Facial Hair Removal Information

Unwanted facial hair is a common issue for many women and they all want get rid of it!

How could we remove facial hair? Could We achieve Permanent facial hair removal?

Facial hair removal creams and products are available in every store but we must be very careful what we buy as our face is very sensitive! As a therapist, I will advise you to have facial hair removal done in a beauty studio or a clinic, because the face zone is very easy to be irritated or infected. If you have some experience with home hair removal you could do your upper lip or single hairs on your face with tweezers or cold waxing kit.

Facial hair removal tips:

  • Shaving and Depilatories are not a good option because they are temporary and could easily cause irritation. Afterwords hair will regrow darker and thicker .
  • Waxing is a better facial hair remover, although a little painful, but definitely longer lasting than creams and shaving. It is the best facial hair removal method for almost all women as it is cheap and the effect last for up to a month. Waxing  is a good option for upper lip hair,  chin hair or whiskers.
  • Electric epilators have similar effect, but they are not recommended for facial hair removal.  Due to the sensitivity of the face you could easily get a rash or ingrown hair bumps.

Permanent facial hair removal

  • Laser facial hair removal is a good solution, but it is more lasting only on those with light skin and dark hair. The laser targets the hair pigment and affect the dark color pigment in the hair. It could also burn the skin if it is darker. A combination of radio frequency and laser is the alternative for those with dark skin or light hair . This is a new product which is only entering the market and might not be available everywhere.
  • Electrolysis facial hair removal is another option. It could be used on anyone- for every skin or hair color, because it doesn’t attack the hair pigment, but the hair follicle itself. The disadvantages of  electrolysis are that it is painful and slow, as a thin metal needle has to be slid into each hair follicle. It is suitable for upper lip hair removal or other small areas.
  • IPL or Pulsed light facial hair removal may be the best option- it is painless and delivers a very good hair reduction (almost permanent). But as the other laser systems affects the hair pigment- best results will be seen on those with light skin and dark hair.

To sum it up -  when you think of getting facial hair removal you should be very careful. This face is very sensitive and it is difficult to be hidden, if anything goes wrong.  Best thing you can do is to leave these procedures in the hands of a therapist or a doctor do not try this at home.
